PDP to Aisha Buhari: Edo women are not prostitutes

(Nigeria) The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO, has condemned the  wife of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress,A PC, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari for alleging that Edo women were prostitutes.
The party called on General Muhammadu Buhari to control his wife's tongue and restrain her from further denigrating Nigerian women.
Director, Media and Publicity, PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode, who addressed newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, said  "Our attention has been drawn to the comments that were made the other day at a rally by the APC in Benin and the following words were attributed to Mrs. Buhari, the wife of the presidential candidate of the APC.
"She said the following words: 'I am here to let Edo women know, when my husband is elected, security, girl child trafficking and suffering of people will end. They don't need to go and prostitute somewhere to survive.
"We view with immense seriousness these insensitive comments. I want to seize this opportunity to send a signal warning to Mrs. Buhari and all those that think like her that the women of Edo State, the women of the South South and the women of the southern part of this country and indeed, all Nigerian women from both North and South, none of them are prostitutes.
"It is a gratuitous insult on womanhood, on the people of Edo, the people of South South, the people of southern Nigeria and indeed, on the people of the whole of Nigeria, both North and South, to the wife of the presidential candidate that made such comments and to the voiceless.
"Only God knows what Gen. Muhammadu Buhari really thinks in the deepest recesses of his heart and mind about Nigerian women.
"So, we will like Gen. Buhari to listen carefully and to please control the tongue of his wife. We do not have prostitutes in Nigeria and no state should be labeled as harboring prostitutes.
"The insult, we will not accept and I hope the Nigerian people will take note of his words and our words, of the type of people that want to take power in this country."
