PDP commends GDI for backing Jonathan, Wike

(Nigeria) The Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, Pastor Monwan Etete has praised the Grassroots Development Initiative, GID, for successfully staging the one-million-Man-march in Port Harcourt.
Addressing the crowd at the party’s State Secretariat on Aba Road where the exercise was terminated, Pastor Etete applauded the group for backing the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan. He also thanked them for their unflinching support for the election of Chief Nyesom Wike as governor of Rivers State.
Pastor Etete further lauded GDI for the enormous work done so far in collaborating with the PDP in educating people at the grassroots to vote wisely.
He expressed delight that the PDP would remain eternally grateful to the group, following the role it played to restore the party in the state during the trying period.
The Deputy Chairman described the one million man march as a demonstration of faith, commitment and resilience, adding that the message was clear that PDP has shown it was physically and psychologically ready for the election.
He said, “On behalf of our Chairman, members and the teeming supporters of the PDP in Rivers State, we commend the GDI for taking the bull by the horns.  It is no mean feat to mobilize millions of Rivers people in the face of the scorching sun, to dance rejoicing from Polo Club all the way to the party Secretariat in Aba Road.”
Pastor Etete also appealed to them to ensure that people at the grassroots are thoroughly educated on how to append their thumb prints where the umbrella stands at the ballot paper, which is the logo of the PDP.
He said it was imperative for these majorly illiterate class to be so educated to vote properly so as to avoid the voiding of votes.
He said the party had background report that people at the grassroots were eagerly waiting to vote en-masse for President Jonathan  in Saturday election, all hands should be on deck to find tune their knowledge of the voting processes.
Earlier in his speech, the President General of GDI, Bright Amaewhule congratulated all participants for enduring the distance despite the hot weather, noting that the exercise showed the readiness of the PDP to liberate the state from the shackles of misrule, no thanks to the administration of Governor Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“PDP and GDI are not association of weaklings.  We are strong, bold and courageous.  As you can see today, we have demonstrated that we are ready to go any distance even at the expense of our lives.  Even the elders of the party took part in this march and we have come to tell outgoing Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Dr Peterside Dakuku, APC state guber candidate and Gen Muhammadu Buhari, APC presidential candidate that we are ready to match action to action.
Amaewhule restated that the PDP would sweep the polls in Saturday’s election and called on the opposition APC to ‘quietly throw in the towel to avoid humiliation’.
Also speaking, the Secretary-General of the group, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike said the march was symbolic as it showed oneness of mind, body and spirit.
“You can see we are happy and warming up for a new Government House, a Government House that Rivers people will call their own, a government that would manage their resources properly, a government that would give our children (born and unborn) hope and future they can dream of. That is what gave up courage to move from Polo Club down to the Party Secretariat” he enthused.
He urged all Rivers people to vote for President Jonathan and all candidates of the PDP for the continued peace, progress and unity of Nigeria.
