PDP accuses APC of buying up PSVs in Rivers
(Nigeria) The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has accused the state All Progressives Congress, APC, of buying permanent voters cards from the people of the state.
Chairman, Media and Publicity,PDP Campaign Organisation in the state, Mr Emeka Okah in a statement said "The Campaign Organisation of the PDP, wishes to draw the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the security agencies to the criminal activities and electoral offences being perpetrated allegedly by the APC in the State.
"The leadership of the APC has engaged its members to procure the INEC issued Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) from potential voters in the state and the development portends grave danger to the nation’s democracy as well as jeopardises the efforts of the government and the commission in the quest for free and fair elections.
"The PDP has received several reports from the 23 local government areas that the sum of N10,000 is being paid per PVC by the alledgely APC, thereby disenfranchising their owners in the March 28 and April 11 general elections.
"The PDP therefore, calls on the security agencies and other relevant authorities to urgently check this ugly political trend by arresting and prosecuting the culprits to ensure a free, transparent and participatory election in the State and cut in the bud the possible likely to arise from such electoral fraud," the statement added.
