At least seven civilians were killed and 31 others wounded on Wednesday when a suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden car in a crowded part of Kabul city, officials said.
The city's deputy police chief said the attack took place in a central district. "All the victims are civilians and the motive of the attack is not clear," said Gul Agha Rouhani, reports dpa.
Sayed Kabir Amiri, head of the city's hospitals department, said that three women and two children were among the victims, but did not clarify whether they were killed or injured.
The attack took place in a central district of Kabul where several government ministries and the country's central bank are located.
Noone has claimed responsibility for the attack thus far.
Attacks against both security forces and civilians have intensified ahead of the Taliban's summer offensive, which regularly begins in April or May.
On Tuesday, 13 civilians including a woman were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on a bus in Wardak province, some 60 kilometers west of Kabul.
