Wike to develop 3 towns to decongest Port Harcourt

(Nigeria) The Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate, Mr  Nyesom Wike has promised to develop three old provinces of Rivers State as modern urban centres to decongest Port Harcout, if elected governor of the state at the Febraury 28 polls.
Addressing the people of Degema Local Government Area during his governorship campaign rally at on Saturday,  Wike listed the old provinces as Degema, Ahoada and Bori.
He said: "We shall lift the standard of the three old provinces of Degema, Ahoada and Bori to the standard of top level urban centres.
"Our attention will be focused on stemming the tide of rural-urban migration. We shall make these towns to compete favorably with Port Harcourt to ensure the empowerment of the greatest number."
He added that he will tackle insecurity by developing the empowerment of the youths and women.
He assured the people of Rivers State that he will develop basic amenities across the state, pointing out that his administration will re-introduce boarding system to secondary schools in the state.
Wike urged Degema people to cast their votes for PDP candidates as the party has presented matured and committed candidates.
Rivers State Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr Mrs Ipalibo Banigo said the incoming administration will embark on civil service reforms and improve civil servants welfare.
Also speaking at the rally, former Degema council Chairman, Chief Diamond Toby-West declared that will work for the Wike Campaign Organisation.
He said he left the fold because he was working for the election of a Kalabari governor. He commended Wike for choosing a Kalabari daughter as his running mate.
Former Rivers State PDP governorship aspirant, Senator Lee Maeba endorsed Wike, saying the primary that produced him was transparent and democratic.
The Director General of Wike Campaign Organisation, Ambassador Desmond Akawor said that PDP governorship team has the capacity to revive Rivers State.
The rally witnessed the defection of All Progressives Congress, APC members to the PDP.
