Wike pledges to develop a new Rivers State, presents development blueprint

(Nigeria) Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Mr Nyesom Wike has formally presented his developmental blueprint, aimed re-positioning Rivers State for the advantage of residents of the state.

Titled "A New Rivers State, new vision, new thinking, better possibilities," the blueprint is expected to guide the incoming administration address developmental challenges that have crippled the state.

Presenting the blueprint to a cross section of Rivers people in Port Harcourt on Monday, Mr Wike, said  "My administration will end the misery of Rivers people and set the people on the path of development. The mandate of the people is the promise of hope. The Rivers people are expected to choose between a risky continuity and a purposeful leadership propelled by a dynamic team. I know from our interactions that the people will vote in PDP to enthrone a new Rivers State."

He described the blueprint as a social contract between him and the Rivers people.

The Rivers State PDP guber flagbearer said that the blueprint was premised upon employment generation which will drive infrastructural development, inclusive governance, administration of justice, education, roads and healthcare delivery.

He added that his administration through the development blueprint hopes to improve on agriculture, transport, housing development, provision of water, energy security, economic development and industrialization.

Other key areas accommodated in the blueprint include security, development of small and medium business development, women development, youth development, sports and tourism, environmental protection, urban and rural development and social welfare services.

He said that the new PDP administration in the will judiciously use resources to develop Rivers State after years of waste by the outgoing administration.

In his remarks, Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus assured the Rivers people that the incoming administration will work hard for the revival of Rivers State.

Rivers State PDP Chairman, Mr Felix Obuah said that the presentation of the blueprint marks the beginning of the march to Rivers Government House.

Rivers State Deputy governorship candidate, Dr Ipalibo Banigo assured the people of Rivers State that the team has the capacity and political will to deliver all the programmes outlined in the developmental blueprint.

Also on Monday, the Deputy National chairman of the PDP inaugurated state campaign committees to pilot the party to victory.
