10 killed in Indian tannery wall collapse

Ten tannery labourers were killed Saturday when a wall collapsed in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, police said.
The overflowing tank of a waste treatment plant burst and the sludge knocked down an adjacent wall, burying the labourers who were all sleeping, a local police officer said, reports dpa.
Nine of the victims were migrant workers from the eastern state of West Bengal, while one was local.
Small industrial operations in India often have poor safety standards.
