Amaechi preaches peace, love at Christmas

(Nigeria) Governor Rotimi  Amaechi  of Rivers State, on Wednesday urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of oneness, love and peace as they celebrate Christmas.
Amaechi made the call in Port Harcourt in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, David Iyofor.
The governor urged Christians to pray for the country to achieve peace and to emulate the virtues of Christ, adding that with peace, unity and strength, Nigeria would be the envy of other African nations.
According to the governor, as we celebrate the birth of Christ, I want to call on Nigerians, particularly my fellow Christians and Rivers people, to be peaceful and show love to everyone irrespective of their religious or political background.
`` The reason for this season is nothing other than to show love to our neighbours and live in unity.
``We must also as a nation go to God in prayers for our political progress; to give us good leaders that will pilot the affairs of this country to greater heights,’’ he said.
Amaechi also urged Nigerians to remain resolute and committed to the course of the nation while preparing for the 2015 election.
``As we go to general elections next year, we must remain resolute and committed to the course of Nigeria,’’ he said.
