Amaechi has no legacy of performance ----Wike
(Nigeria) Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate,
Chief Nyesom Wike, has said that the
outgoing governor of the state, Mr Rotimi Amaechi has no legacy of performance
at the end of his term in office, hence the people of the state have
collectively resolved to vote against his All Progressives Congress, APC
anointed candidate in 2015.
Wike who spoke on
Monday during his thank you visit to Rumueme Kingdom, said that the empty
16,000 capacity Liberation Stadium where the APC state governorship Campaign
Flag Off held, was an indication that the blessing of the people of Rivers
State has left Amaechi and the APC.
He said: “What happened today at the 16,000 capacity
Liberation Stadium, after all the money expended by Amaechi for the APC
Campaign Flag off is an eye opener. Even when they attempted to do damage
control, they gave away themselves by asking Eleme and other local governments
to raise their hands.
“The people of Rivers State have rejected Amaechi and his
government of deceit. His anointed candidate claimed that he will continue with
the legacies of Amaechi. That is why he has been primed for defeat on February
28, 2015. Amaechi has a legacy of failed infrastructure, a legacy of impunity,
a legacy truncated judiciary, a legacy of corrupt practices and poor contract
governance, a legacy of destroyed legislative arm of government, a legacy of
non payment of workers’ salaries and wastage of scarce Rivers State resources
in the sponsorship of APC Presidential Campaign”.
The PDP Governorship Candidate added: “We are in this race
to ensure that we change all the ugly legacies of Amaechi. That is why I drove
him out of the PDP and that is why I will defeat him in all elections next
year. It is because of me that Amaechi
fled to Lagos and Abuja and is afraid of contesting the Senate seat like his
colleague governors are doing. If he is a politician, I challenge him to
contest the seat and see the level of defeat that we will mete out to him.”
He commended Rivers people for passing a clear-cut message
to Amaechi, saying that they will never regret their support for President
Jonathan and himself.
“My driving point in this struggle is the comprehensive
development of Rivers State. I am in this race to right all the developmental
wrongs that Rivers people have suffered. I am in this race to ensure that no
community or ethnic group in Rivers State is left behind in our quest to
develop a prosperous, just and progress-driven Rivers State. This Rivers Vision
cannot be distracted by mere propaganda or political drama as being staged by
Amaechi and his associates,” Wike said.
In his address, immediate past Executive Chairman, Timothy
Nsirim stated that the outgoing governor as a result of his non performance and
political miscalculations is inching towards political oblivion, which would
effectively start next year.
He accused the governor of institutionalizing corruption in
Rivers State, by legalizing illegal deductions of council funds on a monthly
basis.
He said the fiscal terror faced by council chairmen under Amaechi was
further made unbearable by the illegal actions of his Chief of Staff, Tony
Okocha and the wife of the outgoing governor.
Also speaking, a member of the House of Representatives, Mr
Kingsley Chinda berated the outgoing administration in the state for
squandering state resources in politicking, while infrastructure and
empowerment of the people failed.
