PDP cautions Amaechi for ordering shooting of Ogoni protesters

(Nigeria) Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State, has insisted that Governor Rotimi Amaech has never been favourably disposed towards the Ogoni people.
Rivers State PDP Chairman, Mr Felix Obuah, in a statement by his media aide, Mr Jerry Needam, reacting to the alleged shooting ordered by Governor Amaechi at the protesting Ogoni youths at the Government House gate Port Harcourt on Thursday, urged the Ogoni people to see Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress, APC as their real enemies and distance themselves from him and his party, APC.
It noted that “The gathering of the Ogoni youths who were at the Government House to protest against  the dumping of one of their own, Senator Magnus Abe as the governorship flagbearer of the APC, for next year’s general elections, could not be different from similar protests led by Amaechi himself at the Police Headquarters Abuja and elsewhere in the country to register his disapproval of certain developments of public concern.”
PDP said it had been vindicated on its earlier caution that Amaechi was only using the United Nations Environmental Programme, UNEP report to incite the Ogonis against President Goodluck Jonathan and the Federal Government to his personal advantage as though he loves the Ogonis more than the President does.
The PDP recalled with regrets several times at different public fora where Amaechi stated that it’s Ogoni’s turn to produce the next governor, describing Senator Abe as one detribalized and qualified Ogoni man capable of taking up the challenge after him.
“It’s however interesting though unfortunate for the good people of the Ogoni that Amaechi has true to his character proved  to the people that he cannot be trusted by unabashedly and single handedly endorsing the member representing Opobo/Nkoro/Andoni federal constituency in the National Assembly over and above Senator Abe who has totally identified himself with him since his days in exile.”
The PDP also condemned the inhumane treatment by Government House security on the orders of Governor Amaechi who attacked, beat up and shot at the Ogoni people, describing  it as a wrong way to show gratitude to the Ogoni people that have given him support and he has failed to fulfill his promise of giving the governorship ticket to an Ogoniman.
The PDP urged the Ogoni people to see Gov Amaechi and the APC as their real enemies and distance themselves from him and his party, APC.
