2 remanded in prison for alleged unlawful purchase of twins

(Nigeria) A Magistrates' Court in Sokoto State on Wednesday adjourned a case against one Chioma Ibia and Ama Ibiani of Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara, who were accused of unlawful purchase of twins at N76, 500 to December I.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Shuai'bu Ahmed, had told the court that investigation into the case was still going on.
The counsel to the accused persons, Mr Emmanuel Ogiza, said that the case was for further mention.
Both the prosecutor and the defence counsel, however, prayed the court to adjourn to December 1 for further hearing.
The accused persons were charged with criminal conspiracy and buying minors for immoral purposes, punishable under the Penal Code as contained in the First Information Report.
The prosecution alleged that the accused persons criminally conspired and deceitfully gave one Aisha Abukar of Kofar Kade Area, Sokoto, N76, 500 and collected her two children.
It further said that the accused persons allegedly took the babies to Talata Mafara for unlawful or immoral purposes.
The suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges read against them and the court ordered them to be remanded in prison.
