Don’t bit the hand that fed you, PDP tells Graham Douglas

(Nigeria) Irked by the comments by Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas on the persons of the former governor of the Rivers State, Sir, Dr. Peter Odili and Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  Mr Felix Obuah, the party in the state has advised  Douglas to tow the path of other elder statesmen and leave a legacy of honour instead of shame.
The Party regretted that a man in the mould of Graham Douglas would descend so low to throw stones when he is living in a glass house.
The  PDP said that it was sad that at a time when the PDP is struggling to retake the Rivers State Government House which Governor Rotimi Amaechi took to the All Progressive Congress, APC, Graham Douglas who is a member of PDP Board of Trustees, was helping the APC instead of the PDP.
Apart from the admitted romance between Graham Douglas and Governor Amaechi, the PDP notes that the unwarranted venom visited by Graham Douglas on Dr Odili can only be the action of an ingrate coming from a distorted mind.
Rivers PDP in a statement on Tuesday, said "Many Rivers people know that before Dr Odili left office, he awarded a contract for the construction of Trans Kalabari Highway to Graham Douglas' company but instead of executing the contract to help Kalabari people, he abandoned the job after receiving mobilisation. To avoid being probed, he has been licking Amaechi boots since 2007. It is therefore no wonder that Graham Douglas who is a Kalabari Ijaw cannot lay claim to any word he has voiced out publicly to reprimand Governor Amaechi over his unwarranted attacks on the person and office of another Ijaw, President Goodluck Jonathan and his Wife.
"The PDP regards Graham Douglas as a non performer who reaped from the ministerial appointment that Dr Odili placed at his feet despite the fact that during the 1999 Governorship election in Rivers State, Graham Douglas was only able to secure 5 votes for the PDP in his unit. So where lies his claim that he made Dr.  Odili governor in 1999.
"The Party recalls that for many years, Alabo Tonye Graham Douglas was made Minister of Sports, Aviation and also Employment, Labour and Productivity.  At that time, Graham Douglas did not preach zoning  and saw nothing wrong in only himself being a three time Minister to the exclusion of others. All his life, he has preferred to live on the coffers of government and despite the positions he held in government, he could not develop his Abonnema Town or help his Kalabari people. The allure of free money is the reason why he cannot afford to caution Amaechi even when President Jonathan is abused.
"Similarly, the PDP, unequivocally, denies the claim by Alabo Graham Douglas that its State Chairman, Felix Obuah, does not give chance to anybody and also has no respect for any of the senior members of the Party. This position is wrong. The doors of the Party are open to anybody but the problem with Graham Douglas and his cohorts is that they like to reap without sowing. The PDP is like sheep that know their shepherd.
"The Party also denies the allegation by Graham Douglas that Obuah is the campaign manager of Wike. To set records straight, Obuah is not and has never acted as campaign manager to Chief Nyesom Wike or any of the numerous aspirants, who have taken advantage of the open door policy created by the State leadership of the Party. It is also proper we state that Rivers State PDP, under the leadership of Bro Felix Obuah, is not GDI, as alleged by Graham Douglas. It would therefore, be just and fair if he (Douglas) stops twisting facts and deliberately creating disaffection in the Party. He should tell the world what he has done to help the PDP in his ward, LGA or State since Amaechi left the Party.
"Again, PDP says that rather than feel pained by the exit of Amaechi from the party, Alabo Graham Douglas ought to have been more pained by the fact that he, ‘as a senior member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT)’, is dislocated from the political representation and leadership of his area. It is therefore, wrong that a PDP BoT member is being represented by an APC Councilor, an APC House of Assembly member, an APC House of Representatives member, and an APC Senator. This is a product of political weakness, compromise and inactivity of Chief Graham-Douglas."
