Amodu Shuaibu now interim coach, as NFA sack Keshi

(Nigeria) The Board of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has relieved Stephen Keshi of the duty of Head Coach of the Super Eagles and replaced him with Amodu Shuaibu as interim coach.
In a communiqué after a meeting which ended in the early hours of Thursday, the board said that Amodu Shuaibu, a former Super Eagles coach, will now take charge on interim basis.
The Board said that Shuaibu would execute Super Eagles remaining two 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Congo in Brazzaville and South Africa in Uyo.
The communiqué reads: ``The board unanimously praises the excellent contributions of the technical crew of the Super Eagles, led by Stephen Keshi, to the glorious accomplishments of the team in the past three years.
``Keshi, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorounmu are true national heroes.
``However, in the interest of Nigeria football and the desire to ensure qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals, the board has decided to relieve them of their duty with immediate effect.
``In recognition of their contributions to the game, the board also approves that the trio of Keshi, Amokachi and Shorounmu should proceed to any coaching course of their choice.
``The course will be in any country of their choice to build their capacity at the expense of the NFA. All their entitlements will be paid within the next fortnight.
``The Board has also unanimously approved the appointment of a consortium of coaches to lead the Super Eagles for only the two concluding matches of the AFCON 2015 qualifying series.’’
The Board also said that an expatriate Coach would be appointed afterwards.
In the communiqué, Salisu Yusuf, Gbenga Ogunbote and Aloysius Agu were listed as Suaibu’s assistants, while ex-international Garba Lawal was named the team’s new Coordinator.
Lawal replaced Emmanuel Attah, while Toyin Ibitoye, who is now the new Media Officer, replaced Ben Alaiya.
According to the communiqué, Enebi Achor retains his position as team Secretary, while Godfirst Chike is the new Equipment Manager.
The board also appointed Samson Siasia as the new Head Coach of the U-23 Men’s Team with Fatai Amoo as his assistant.
The Technical and Development Committee has been asked to recommend other members of the crew.
Standing Committees of the NFA were also constituted with Felix Anyansi-Agwu appointed as the Technical and Development Committee chairman.
The Organising Committee for NFA Competitions is headed by Seyi Akinwunmi, while the Finance Committee is chaired by Otunba Dele-Ajayi.
