Ukraine warns West against lifting sanctions on Russia

The European Union, EU and its western allies should not lift sanctions on Russia until Ukraine has regained control of all its territory, Ukraine's prime minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, said, reports ShareCast.
Speaking to the United Nations, UN, General Assembly, Yatsenyuk said that Russian troops were still operating in Ukraine and he urged the EU and the West to keep the pressure on Moscow.
"We ask our partners not to lift sanctions until Ukraine takes control of its entire territory," the Ukrainian prime minister said.
"Crimea was, is and will be a part of Ukraine.
"Russian troops are deployed in the east of Ukraine and we urge Russia to pull back its forces [...] and to start real talks.
"Every day, despite the ceasefire, we are losing Ukrainian soldiers, we are losing civilians."
Yatsenyuk then issued a stern warning to Russia, insisting that Ukraine will not take a step back in the conflict.
"You can win the fight against the troops, but you will never win the fight against the [...] united Ukraine nation," said the Ukrainian prime minister.
According to UN estimates, 3,245 people have been killed since the conflict began in April and though the ceasefire that started on 5 September has held so far, sporadic fighting continued.
On Wednesday, Nato said it had registered a "significant" withdrawal of Russian troops from eastern Ukraine, while US president Barack Obama said if Russia chose to stand by the ceasefire agreement "we will lift our sanctions and welcome Russia's role in addressing common challenges."
Moscow has denied any involvement in the conflict and has repeatedly denied arming the rebels and sending troops into Ukraine.
