``Any execution is appalling, but executions for crimes such
as drug smuggling or sorcery that result in no loss of life are particularly
egregious,” said Sarah Leah Whitson.
Beheading is a common method of execution in Saudi Arabia
and often takes place in a public area.
Executions are announced by the official state-run news
agency in the absolute monarchy.
