NNPC seeks police assistance in pipeline policing

(Nigeria) The Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr Joseph Dawha, has solicited the assistance of the police in protecting its pipelines, checking crude oil and refined products’ theft.
A statement  by Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu the force spokesman in Abuja on Wednesday said  that Dawha made the request when he visited the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba.
Dawha also solicited the assistance of the police in protecting top management staff of the corporation, adding that peace and security were essential ingredients for the socio-economic growth of any nation.
He congratulated Abba on his appointment, and thanked the force for maintaining what he called the ``age-long collaborative relationship’’ between the corporation and the force.
Responding, Abba said that the police would continue to give maximum protection to oil facilities and personnel of the corporation.
Abba said that the force was exploring modern techniques of surveillance for the protection of critical national infrastructure.
