Donetsk militia promises not to target OSCE drones

Militia forces will not target Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE, drones but do not rule out that the unmanned aircraft can be destroyed in fighting, a member of the Security Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic said on Thursday, reports Itar-Tass.
“We have no intention to shoot down OSCE drones but they are small aircraft, and it is impossible to spot them in the air,” Sergei Kavtaradze said.
The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine plans to use drones to monitor the Russian-Ukrainian border. The mission will receive drones within 6-10 weeks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier this week that Russia had supported the idea of equipping the OSCE mission with unmanned aircraft.
On July 24, the OSCE Permanent Council made a decision to deploy a mission on the Russian-Ukrainian border. The mission is set to work in Ukraine for three months but its mandate can be extended if necessary.
