Court remanded 3 in prison for armed robbery

(Nigeria) An Ota Magistrate Court in Ogun State has remanded three men in prison custody at the Abeokuta Prisons, Ibara, over alleged armed robbery.
The accused, Abdulraheem Olorunbayo, 28; Wahab Azeez, 21, and Ahmed Ganiyu, 24, whose addresses are unknown, are being tried for conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, who gave the order on Tuesday, said the accused should be kept behind bars, pending legal advice from the State Director of Prosecutions, DPP on the matter.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on May 6 at 3a.m., at No. 3, Salvation Avenue, Ijoko, in Ota.
He alleged that the first and second accused, and others at large, who were armed with guns and iron bars, robbed one Tina Fajobi of his HP laptop valued at N150,000, a Nokia phone, N40,000, and other valuable items worth N316,000.
Mustapha said that the third accused received a nokia phone, knowing that it was a stolen item.
He said the offences contravened Sections 1(2), (a), 5 and 6 (b) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, (Special Provision) Cap RII, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
Magistrate Abimbola adjourned the case till August 29, for mention.
