Court remands female student for allegedly masterminding rape

(Nigeria) A Magistrate Court in Egor, Benin, Edo State on Friday ordered that Deborah Enoma,16, a student of Anty-Maria Group of Schools, be remanded in prison for allegedly masterminding the rape of her 14-year-old friend.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Igho Braimoh, gave the order following a plea of not guilty by the accused person, who is being charged with conspiracy to commit felony.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Omoruyi Osayomwanbor, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 16 at No. 15, Uwwelu Maternity Road, Benin.
Osayomwanbor alleged that the accused conspired with her lover, now at large to commit felony.
The prosecutor said the accused took the 14-year-old girl to the address under the pretence of taking her to a family friend.
He said when they got to the place, the accused opened the door of the room and made a phone call.
According to the prosecutor, later, two men, Destiny Idehen, 24, and the accused person’s lover, who is at large, came inside the room.
After introducing her lover to her friend (the victim), herself and her lover went outside, while Idehen immediately locked the door behind them.
Idehen raped the minor and also stabbed her with a kitchen knife on her forehead.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 516 of the Criminal Code.
If found guilty, she is liable, on conviction, to imprisonment, for a term of not less than seven years.
