CBN confirms Dikko as Unity Bank Chairman

(Nigeria) The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Lamis Dikko as the Chairman, Board of Directors of Unity Bank Plc.
The approval, according to a statement issued by the CBN in Lagos on Thursday, is contained in a letter dated April 22.
The statement said that the letter was signed by the CBN's Director, Banking Supervision, Mrs Tokunbo Martins.
The letter also conveyed the approval of Mr Thomas Etuh as the pioneer Vice Chairman of the Bank.
The board of directors of the bank on March 27, forwarded the names of Dikko and Etuh to the CBN, following the resignation of the former Chairman, Alhaji Numan Barau Danbatta.
While awaiting the approval, Etuh had been serving as interim Chairman.
The statement said, ``Dikko is a seasoned banker with extensive banking experience and a strong background in the financial services sector.’’
He was also an intricate part in the consolidation process that led to the establishment of the bank in 2006.
Dikko holds a B.Sc economics from Queen Mary's College, University of London.
He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School for Management Development and is currently the Chairman of Infrastructure Bank and a Director of Legacy Pensions, amongst others.
