Abduction: Court remands 2 market women

(Nigeria) A Magistrate Court in Makudi, Benue State on Wednesday ordered the remand of two market women pending legal advice over an alleged trespass and abduction of a three-month-old baby.
Sarah Agbile and Dooshima Abel, both of Akpehe Logo II, Makurdi, are facing a two-count charge of criminal trespass and abduction of a baby.
The magistrate, Mrs Franca Yuwa, gave the order after going through the first information report against the two women.
She said that the plea of the accused persons could not be taken for want of jurisdiction.
Yuwa adjourned the case until May 20 for legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Benue Ministry for Justice.
The prosecutor, ASP. James Onwone, had told the court that Mrs Racheal Terfa of Akpehe Logo II, Makurdi, lodged a report against the accused at the `B' Division Police Station on April 25.
He said that the accused persons conspired and trespassed into the complainant's house and abducted her three-month-old daughter who was sleeping.
The prosecutor said the baby was rescued following the arrest of the women.
He said that the offence contravened the Sections 97, 348 and 273 of the Penal Code.
The plea of the accused persons was not taken.
