Journalist dies in Gombe

(Nigeria) The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Gombe State has lost one of its members, Mr Mike Ogbu, of Daily Independent Newspaper.
A statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the chapel, Mr Timothy Choji and Williams Attah respectively in Gombe on Tuesday said Ogbu died in his home town, Obuofia in Nkanu West local government of Enugu State.
The statement said the late Ogbu, who had stayed in Gombe for 10 years, was survived by a wife and five children - three girls and two boys.
It said the chapel had opened a condolence register for its members and others to register their condolences.
The statement said that burial arrangements for the deceased would be announced by his family.
“His wife, Mrs Ngozika Ogbu, who confirmed the death, said he died at the age of 48 in the early hours of February  25 after battling with a protracted illness,” it said.
