19 Afghan soldiers killed, 7 kidnapped by Taliban

No fewer than 19 Afghan soldiers were killed and seven captured on Sunday when rebels attacked an outpost in eastern Afghanistan, police said.
Kunar province police spokesman Ahmad Farid who made this known in Kabul said a large number of the militants assaulted an army outpost at 3.30 a.m. in the Ghaziabad district.
``In an hour-long gun battle, 19 soldiers were killed.
``The militants also took seven soldiers, but four of them could manage to escape,” Farid said.
He added that two of the four soldiers who managed to escape were also wounded.
