Police arraign man, 24, for stabbing woman with broken bottle

(Nigeria) A 24-year-old unemployed man, Oludiwa Kiruma, was on Thursday charged with stabbing a woman with a broken bottle at an Ojo Magistrate Court in Lagos.
The accused, whose address is unknown, is standing on charges of assault and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Mr Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused committed the offences on January 21 at Tedi Town in Ojo, Lagos.
According to him, Kiruma stabbed a woman, Linda Malichi, with a broken bottle on her head, face and breast.
He added that the accused also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace.
Eze said the offences contravened Sections 166 and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused entered a not-guilty plea on all the counts.
The Magistrate, Mr Taslimi Shomade, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to February 10 for mention.
