Morocco summons Algerian Ambassador over Syrian deportations

The Moroccan Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said that it had summoned the Algerian Ambassador to protest the recent deportation of Syrian refugees to Morocco.
Morocco's official news agency (MAP) made this available in Rabat.
The minister’s delegate for Foreign Affairs, Mbarka Bouaida summoned the Algerian Ambassador to the ministry's headquarters to express his country's strong disapproval of the deportation by the Algerian authorities of over 70 Syrian nationals to the Moroccan territory.
The ministry said that Morocco condemns outright this ``inhuman act all the more because it involves women and children in an extremely vulnerable situation.’’
It said that the Moroccan authorities had immediately provided assistance and the necessary healthcare for the Syrian nationals, who were deported to the border zone with Algeria.
According to the Moroccan media, an increasing number of Syrians have recently crossed into Morocco from Algeria without visas, with most seeking the opportunity to travel to Europe.
