Man appears in court for alleged rape of neighbour's wife

(Nigeria) A 25-year-old man, Azeez Kilani on Wednesday appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court and charged with assaulting and raping a neighbour's wife.
Prosecutor Augustine Ozimini told the court that Kilani, who resides at No. 6 Olowu Street, Sapon, Abeokuta, committed the offence on January 25.
Ozimini said that the accused went to the neighbour’s home under the pretext of seeking for the attention of the victim’s husband.
``When Kilani learnt that the husband was not at home, he made sexual advances to his wife. When she resisted, he hit her, tore her cloth and raped her brutally,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 351 and 357 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Emmanuel Adekunte, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adekunte said that the sureties must be regular tax payers and owners of landed property in the state.
He adjourned the case to March 7, for further hearing.
