3 women appear in court for allegedly beating up a man

(Nigeria) Three women on Monday appeared before an Osogbo Magistrate Court in Osun State and charged with beating up an activist, Olayinka Ibrahim, at the NUJ Press Club in Osogbo.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the accused persons, Bimbo Akinwumi, 28, Olufemi Adeyemo, 26, and Nike Oyinlola, 22, committed the offence on January 22.
Abiodun said Ibrahim, who is the President of the Federation of Informal Workers in Osun, was allegedly beaten when he attempted to rescue a person attacked by the women.
``The accused beat the activist and damaged some of his valuables yet to be valued before he was rescued by some fellow activists and the police was called in,’’ Abiodun  said.
He said the offence contravened Section 516 and 351 of the Criminal Code of Osun 2003.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N50, 000 each and two sureties in the like sum.
Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must have evidence of tax payment.
He also said the sureties should attached two passport photographs in the affidavit of means and adjourned the case to February 24, for mention.
