Pope Francis has not abolished sin, says Vatican

Father Federico Lombardi, Vatican spokesman, said on Tuesday in Vatican City that, Pope Francis has not abolished sin as was published by La Repubblica newspaper.
He said the Vatican felt compelled to deny a published article titled "Francis' Revolution, has abolished sin" writing by a renowned Italian intellectual, Eugenio Scalfari.
Lombardi said the affirmation that the pope has abolished sin was wrong, because those who really follow the pope daily know how many times he has spoken about sin and our human condition as sinners.
Reuters reports that It was not the first brush between the Vatican and Scalfari, who founded La Repubblica newspaper in 1976.
Last month the Vatican removed from its website the text of Scalfari's transcript of his conversation with the pope, saying parts of it were not reliable.
In his reaction, Scalfari said he had not used a tape recorder or taken notes when he met the pope.
He said, he rather reconstructed the long session from memory afterwards and made additions to help the flow of the article.

NBC has no powers to impose fine on broadcast stations --Court

(Nigeria) The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been restrained by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, from imposing fines on broadcast stations in the country. Trial judge in the matter, Justice James Omotosho also set aside the N500,000 fines imposed on March 1, 2019, on each of 45 broadcast stations. The court made the orders in its judgment a suit by the Incorporated Trustees of Media Rights Agenda, MRA, which had sued the NBC. Justice Omotosho held that the NBC, not being a court of law, had no power to impose sanctions as punishment on broadcast stations. The court further held that the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which gives the commission the power to impose sanction, is in conflict with Section 6 of the Constitution that vested judicial power in the court of law.
