Man remanded in prison for trafficking hard drug

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday ordered the remand a 41-years-old man, Oluwaseun Oladipupo charged with alleged drug trafficking.
Trial judge in the matter is Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia.
Oladipupo, a resident of Ikorodu area of Lagos State, who pleaded guilty to the offence was remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos.
The accused was arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on a count charge of dealing on a restricted narcotic, "Cannabis Sativa", otherwise known as Indian hemp.
The Prosecutor, Mr Oriji Kalu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 8.
He said the accused was arrested at Imota, a Lagos suburb, following a tip-off and that about 300 grammes of the substance was recovered from him.
Kalu told the court that the accused was in the business of selling the substance to touts in the area.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 11 (c), of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation, 2004.
Ofili-Ajumogobia ordered the accused to be remand at the Ikoyi Prisons and adjourned the case till January  24, 2014 for a review of the case.
