Anambra supplementary poll must hold---MASSOB

(Nigeria) Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, Monday, said that Saturday's supplementary election in Anambra State should be allowed to take place as scheduled, because it would favour the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, which is the reigning party in the state.
MASSOB in statement by Chief Osondu Oni, Anambra State Coordinator and Chief Nnaemeka Okeke, Director of Communications, said that as a group that represents the genuine interest of Ndigbo, "we wish to state categorically that APGA is an Igbo political party because our leader, late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu is the National Leader and founder through Chief Chekwas Okorie. APGA is part of Ojukwuism, one of Ojukwu’s legacy that must be jealously protected and sustained.
"APGA and MASSOB are products of Ojukwu, who tutored Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, the MASSOB leader; Chief Chekwas Okorie, former APGA national chairman; Chief victor Umeh, incumbent APGA national chairman and Peter Obi, the out-going governor of the state, among others.
"We can never allow our Igboism and MASSOB mentality to be blinded by some selfish Igbo leaders, the statement further insisted, adding, although our leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike supported Labour Party candidate, Ifeanyi Ubah, to the extent of ordering Anambra State MASSOB to vote for him because of personal quarrel between him and Governor Peter Obi/Victor Umeh, we MASSOB members do not want to offend our late leader, Ojukwu. We voted for APGA because of our love for Ojukwu.
"Anambra is the only state in Igbo land where we operate freely because of mutual understanding between MASSOB and the State Government. But now Uwazuruike and Uchenna Madu have endangered our lives and activities because they declared MASSOB for opposition party.
"As Anambra State indigenes, if Uwazuruike and  Madu will contest or oppose our declaration on Anambra governorship election, we shall expose Uwazuruike’s secret deal with Federal Government, Ifeanyi Ubah, Alhaji Mustapha, Dokubo Asari and Fredrick Fashehun on secret documents signed for the Unity of Nigeria. 
"Madu, Director of Information is being used against his conscience. MASSOB is now Uwazuruike’s personal business venture. He enriches himself everyday while MASSOB members including other leaders are living in abject poverty.”

NBC has no powers to impose fine on broadcast stations --Court

(Nigeria) The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been restrained by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, from imposing fines on broadcast stations in the country. Trial judge in the matter, Justice James Omotosho also set aside the N500,000 fines imposed on March 1, 2019, on each of 45 broadcast stations. The court made the orders in its judgment a suit by the Incorporated Trustees of Media Rights Agenda, MRA, which had sued the NBC. Justice Omotosho held that the NBC, not being a court of law, had no power to impose sanctions as punishment on broadcast stations. The court further held that the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which gives the commission the power to impose sanction, is in conflict with Section 6 of the Constitution that vested judicial power in the court of law.
