Don’t abscond in Israel, Akinjide tells intending pilgrims

(Nigeria) The Minister of State for FCT, Mrs Olajumoke Akinjide, has warned intending pilgrims against absconding in the Holy Land of Israel.
Akinjide gave the warming in Abuja on Thursday at the Pre-departure Orientation for FCT Intending Pilgrims for the 2013 pilgrimage to Israel.
The orientation was organised by the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, CPWB.
The minister, represented by her Special Adviser on Social Development, Mrs Uchenna Nwafor, said the orientation was aimed at preparing pilgrims spiritually, mentally and psychologically for the journey.
The minister urged them to be good ambassadors of Nigeria while in the holy land.
``I charge you to respect the country and yourself by exhibiting highest sense of exemplary conduct while in the holy land. We don’t expect you to lose focus of the primary essence of the pilgrimage, which, among others, is to pray for peace in Nigeria.”
Olajumoke pledged the FCTA's continued support for the board to improve the spiritual well being of the residents of the territory.
Sen. Philip Aduda, Chairman and leader of the FCT 2013 ministerial delegation, said 1,000 out of the 1,500 persons who applied for this year’s pilgrimage were successful.
The first, second and third batches of pilgrims from the FCT would depart for Israel on October 19, 20 and 25 respectively.
