Housewife docked for allegedly assaulting man with pestle

(Nigeria) A housewife, Nike Ishola, who allegedly attacked a man with a pestle, was on Tuesday charged before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Ishola, 40, who resides at No. 62, Zumuratu St., Ajegunle, a Lagos suburb, is standing trial on a charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Mr Austine Onwuemene, said the accused committed the offence on July 28 at 8.00 a.m. at No. 62, Zumuratu St., Ajegunle.
``Ishola assaulted her co-tenant, Feranmi Alabi, with a pestle and inflicted injuries on his face and all parts of his body without provocation.
 ``Alabi was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was given treatment,’’ he told the court.
Onwuemene said the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded innocence of the offence and was granted bail in the sum of N25, 000 with one surety, who should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr M. K. Fadeyi, adjourned the case to Aug. 23 for further hearing.
