Egypt court adjourns Mubarak trial to Sept. 14

An Egyptian court decided Sunday to adjourn the trial of ex-president Hosni Mubarak to September 14, on charges of inciting violence and murdering protesters, state-TV reported.
Presided by judge Mahmoud Kamel, Cairo Criminal Court decided to adjourn the retrial of Mubarak, his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, former interior minister Habib Al Adli and six of his aides, for considering the huge amounts of documents over the case.
The judge ordered to form a tripartite committee from police, armed forces and forensic investigators to review the concrete evidences of killing protesters.
After settling his last case of corruption, Mubarak was ordered by deputy military ruler and Prime Minister Hazem Beblawi on Thursday to be placed under house arrest due to the one-month state of emergency imposed since August 14.
Mubarak chose to be placed in the Maadi Military Hospital, and his house arrest will be lifted after the state of emergency ends.

NBC has no powers to impose fine on broadcast stations --Court

(Nigeria) The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been restrained by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, from imposing fines on broadcast stations in the country. Trial judge in the matter, Justice James Omotosho also set aside the N500,000 fines imposed on March 1, 2019, on each of 45 broadcast stations. The court made the orders in its judgment a suit by the Incorporated Trustees of Media Rights Agenda, MRA, which had sued the NBC. Justice Omotosho held that the NBC, not being a court of law, had no power to impose sanctions as punishment on broadcast stations. The court further held that the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which gives the commission the power to impose sanction, is in conflict with Section 6 of the Constitution that vested judicial power in the court of law.
