Explosion rocks Maiduguri, as gunmen attack Taraba, kill 2 police


Four Improvised Explosive Devices suspected to have been planted by terrorists in Maiduguri,  Borno State, Thursday, went-off at different locations within the town.
The explosions went-off simultaneously on Baga Road, Customs, Gamboru general areas at 3pm, while that last one at London ciki went-off at 6pm.
Meantime, gunmen have stormed a residence in village of Tella, that housed foreign workers, killing two police guards in an attack a company source said, Thursday was a failed kidnapping.
Police in Taraba State confirmed the raid in the village of Tella at the site owned by the Triacta engineering firm.
But an official from Triacta, who requested anonymity, told AFP that "based on what has been happening (recently in Nigeria), we have every reason to believe that our expatriates were the target. It was a clear case of a failed kidnap," he added.
"Last night, there were shootings around the house where the expatriate construction workers are living," said resident Yonana Dauda. "Two policemen guarding the house were shot dead."
On the bomb explosions in Maiduguri, it was gathered at that a top security source had warned the state government not to invite All Progressive Congress, APC governor to the state following intelligence report, but according to him, his advice felt on deaf ears.
It was gathered that no fewer than six dead bodies, including security operatives and civilians were brought to the mortuary of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, while those who sustained injuries were also receiving treatment.
