Hezbollah claims new missile capabilities

New missiles provided by Iran have changed the equation in Hezbollah’s fight against Israel and has given the resistance an upper-hand, the party’s deputy head Naim Qassem said Sunday, reports The Daily Star. “Such issue [missiles] is a trump card in the equation of war between the resistance forces and the Israeli enemy,” Qassem told Iran ’s Tasnim News Agency, which is known to be close to the revolutionary guard. 7 killed in attack at China military clinic

Six nurses and a janitor were killed Thursday in a knife attack blamed on another employee at a military hospital and resort in a northeastern coastal town favored by the country's Communist Party elite, police said, reports AP. A 27-year-old employee was detained following the early morning attack at Beidaihe Sanatorium in the seaside town of Beidaihe, about 300 kilometers (190 miles) east of Beijing, police said. A preliminary investigation showed no conflict between the employee and colleagues, and the suspect told investigators he had a history of mental problems, police said in a statement. The attacks took place in the dormitory for female staff at the facility, a hospital and resort for retired military officials. One person also was injured, police said. A surgeon who contracted Ebola while treating patients in Sierra Leone has passed away in a hospital in Nebraska, where he had been flown for treatment, officials announced Monday, reports CBS news. 14 killed in car bombings in Baghdad

Kenyan priest sentenced to death for killing a bishop

A Kenyan catholic priest was sentenced to capital punishment by the Kenyan Court of Justice for killing an Italian bishop in 2005, rereports Tass. A Catholic priest Guyo Waqo from Kenya and four of his accomplices were sentenced to death for the murder of the 77-year-old Bishop of Isiolo (250 km from Nairobi) as reported in a communique of Public Service Commission of Kenya. According to the document, this criminal group attacked the bishop in July of 2005 in order to get the endowment fund of Isiolo’s bishopric. Luigi Locati who had been widely popular was killed, as reported, in a fight over control of bishopric and its finance after he retires. The leadership of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) has reached a preliminary agreement with the Netherlands to transport the wreckage of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing that crashed near Donetsk on July 17 to Kharkiv. The OSCE is going to act as mediator, a DPR official told TASS on Thursday. A. Malaysia Airlines plane was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it crashed over eastern Ukraine on July 17. Police in Brussels used batons, tear gas and water cannons against a group of participants of the trade union protest against austerity measures announced by the new government, reports Tass. It was originally reported of four injured — two protesters and two policemen. In the district of Brussels South Station, demonstrators pelted police with stones, overturned and burned cars.
