Okowa stated this in his keynote address at the 2021 Annual Lecture and Symposium organised by Ripples Centre for Data and Investigative Journalism (RCDIJ) at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The theme of the Dialogue is ``Rebuilding Trust in a Divided Nigeria: Advancing the Conversation’’ The governor stated that bad governance at different levels of government was a major contributory factor to disunity in the country, adding that absence of a shared national vision or aspiration, primordial loyalties and sentiments largely held sway among the citizenry. He listed indices of bad governance to include tribalism and nepotism, lopsidedness in power sharing, corruption and lack of transparency and accountability, religious bigotry, insecurity, unemployment and poverty.

Federal agencies seek Bayelsa collaboration to complete secretariat project

(Nigeria) Federal Government parastatals in Bayelsa State have solicited the cooperation of the state government in order to ease their office accommodation challenge. Heads of the federal agencies made the request on Tuesday in Government House, Yenagoa, during a courtesy visit to Governor Douye Diri. Chairman of the Association of Heads of Federal Parastatals, Mr Obaro Ologbo, in a statement by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah, said that the visit was to seek the governor's intervention towards completing the federal secretariat in the state, which he said was 80 per cent completed. Ologbo lamented the difficulty faced by federal parastatals, which, according to him, were struggling to pay rents. The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, led other principal officers to the State House in Abuja to present the document to Mr President. The report contained far-reaching recommendations by the committee, which was chaired by Mr Speaker, on how to tackle the growing insecurity in Nigeria. The committee had held a Special Summit on National Security in Abuja on May 25, where major stakeholders x-rayed the security challenges of the country and came up with recommendations as part of the legislative interventions to address the situation. The report, broken into two major categories, has seven recommendations for legislative actions and 19 others for executive actions.
