Nigerian Senate (Nigeria) The Senate, Wednesday, urged the National Emergency Management Agency to, as a matter of urgency, mobilize resources to supply relief and rehabilitation materials to victims of windstorm in several communities in Benue State. The call on the Agency was made by the upper chamber after a motion was brought to the floor by Senator representing Benue South in the National Assembly, Abba Moro. The lawmaker relied on Order 42 and 52 of the Senate Standing Rules to present his motion titled: “Urgent Need to Buffer The Corollaries of Windstorm Disaster on Obu-Branch and Odoba Communities of Ogbadibo Local Government Area, and Olaidu, Okpare-Otah, Ajide, Ojigo Communities of Okpokwu Local Government Area in the Benue South senatorial district.” In his presentation, Moro noted that heavy winds and tornadoes are among the country’s most dangerous natural disasters. Abia State youths  clean up major streets in Umuahia after #EndSARS protest (Nigeria) Hundreds of Abia State youths on Tuesdayy turned out en masse to clean up major streets in Umuahia, the capital city, after the #EndSARS protest which was eventually hijacked and resulted in the destruction of government infrastructure and private properties. The clean up exercise which started from School Road, took the youths through major streets in Umuahia including Aba Road, Azikiwe Road, Isi Gate and its environs. Nigerian Senate (Nigeria) The Senate on Wednesday directed its Committees on Petroleum Downstream, Gas Resources to investigate the remote and immediate causes of gas tanker explosions in parts of the country, with a view to preventing a reoccurrence and report back in two weeks. Phase 10 of the Enumeration Area Demarcation, EAD, for Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State,  has commenced with a flag-off of the exercise by the Federal Commissioner representing Delta State on the Board of  National Population Commission, Sir Richard Odibo. The event at the council hall in Ughelli North,   had officials of the commission, functionaries, leaders of various communities in the council in attendance. Speaking during the ceremony, Sir Odibo said the EAD was the vehicle that drives the entire census process in the pre-census, actual enumeration and post-census period. He recalled that the commission in phases 2 and 3 of the exercise had previously demarcated six councils in the state — Ukuani, Udu, Warri South, Isoko North, Ika North-East, assuring that the remaining councils in the state would be demarcated in subsequent phases.
