APC demands probe of Fayose over fuel diversion
(Nigeria) All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State
has petitioned the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, asking him to
probe reports of illegal diversion of fuel allegedly involving Governor Ayodele
Fayose.
A petition by APC State Secretary, Paul Omotoso, said it was
in possession of information linking Fayose with alleged fuel diversion
involving some officials of NUPENG to sabotage the Federal Government in its
service delivery to Nigerians.
"We write to complain on deliberate sabotage mission
coordinated by Governor Fayose of Ekiti State working in cahoots with some
unscrupulous officials of NUPENG to cause fuel supply disruptions in Ekiti
State in order to cause untold hardship for the citizens and blame it on the
Federal Government for not doing enough to ameliorate the sufferings of the
people while they corruptly enrich themselves," Omotoso said.
He said the petition was informed by earlier report
allegedly linking the governor with the Ekiti State Petroleum Supply Task Force
to breach NNPC's directive to sell fuel at official price.
"Instead on ensuring compliance with NNPC's directive
to sell at official price, the state task force became a racket machine that
was moving from filling station to filling station to encourage dealers to sell
above the official price to enable the task force make cuts that were later
deposited at the Government House," he explained.
He said information at the party's disposal confirmed that
daily allocations of fuel to the state were being diverted to other states with
the connivance of some NUPENG officials and the governor to sabotage the
Federal Government in order to set the people against the President.
"For instance, records few days ago showed that 10
trailers of fuel for Ekiti State as demanded in a letter by Fayose were
diverted mostly to stations outside the state.
"The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Dupe Alade,
had earlier written for same allocation but her letter to NNPC was stepped down
when Fayose used his official position to
request for the allocation of fuel to 10 filling stations, many of which
do not exist in Ekiti State.
"The governor's letter was addressed to the Area
Manager at Mosimi and minuted to Ore and was processed by the Ore office of
NNPC. The Governor in his letter deceived the depot authorities that he would
sell the product to Ekiti people at controlled price but ended up diverting
same to other states.
"The trailers were loaded on Wednesday and Thursday,
April 20 and 21, but the real fuel
companies and vendors were prevented from loading until the 10 trailers
demanded by the governor left the depot but were diverted to other stations
outside Ekiti State causing protests by the real marketers in the state,"
he said.
In a petition that Omotoso also attached a copy of the
governor's letter, he explained that the companies in the letter include BOS
Oil, Alade Oil and Amsek Filling Station in Ado-Ekiti that were selling above
official price.
"Other stations that do not exist in Ekiti State but
which the governor requested supply for in his letter include Royal Oil, which
the governor falsely claimed to exist in Omuo-Ekiti.
"The other is Rova Oil filling station, which no longer
exists in Ekiti because it has since been sold to another company and its name
changed and it is now operating under NNPC. It is selling above NNPC official
price.
"Bisi Jay Oil is
located in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, but it is one of the companies in the
governor's letter to NNPC for fuel supply to Ekiti State, while Ademur Oil in
the governor's letter is located in Osun State.
"Moson Global is located in Ifon, Ondo State, but
received Ekiti allocation at NNPC official price but selling above official
price to the public," he added.
Omotoso said there was need for the security agencies, NNPC
and Ministry of Petroleum Resources to investigate the governor's activities at
the NNPC offices both in Ore and Mosimi and the roles of NUPENG officials in
"this wicked unleashing of pains on Ekiti people by their unpatriotic act
to sabotage the Federal Government."
