(Nigeria) A civil rights organisation in Nigeria, Centre for
Human Rights and Social Justice, CHRSJ, has called on the authority of the Nigeria
Police Force, NPF, for an unbiased and thorough investigation into the alleged
killing of a 20 years old Jessica Adaobi at Ajegunle area of Lagos State by the
men of Trinity Police Unit under the Ajeggunle
Divisional Headquarters in Lagos State led by Inspector Dania Ojo.
Others fingered in the criminal act of alleged killing of
the young Lady Adaobi were; Inspector Adamu Usman, Sergeant Adeyeye Adeoye, Sergeant
Kazeem Tijani, Sergeant Lucky Akigbe and Sergeant Paul Adoye.
The group source explained that the incident occurred barely
few days after the burial of Late Kolade Johnson who was murdered in a cold blooded
manner by the Police stray bullet from Police Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan and five
others in Lagos state too.
It revealed that the trigger happy Police officers committed
the dastard act on April 13, 2019 at around 7a.m., alleging that Divisional
Head of the Police Station were planning to sweep the unjustifiable killing
under the carpet before the rights group got the information of the unlawful
killing of innocent Nigerian through the good Samaritan who hinted the Lagos
office of the rights group.
It was also learnt that on the day of the incident,
Jessica's partner, Emmanuel Akomafunwa who were with Late Jessica were beaten
to the state of coma where he sustained grave injuries in all over his body.
It also stated that when the leadership of the group (CHRSJ)
approached Divisional Police Station for more details about gruesome murder of
Jessica, they confirmed the incident and stated that the Inspector Dania Ojo
that lead the team who killed Adaobi were at large.
A statement by its Executive Chairman, Adeniyi, Alimi
Sulaiman on Monday, noted that when
other families were enjoying the Easther season of resurrection of Jesus
Christ, the Jessica Adobi family was thrown into irreparable grieve by trigger
men of the Nigeria Police Force.
Sulaiman described the killing of the young lady as serious executive
genocide that was going beyond extra judicial killing, stressing that genocide
extinction of our youths and tomorrow leaders by legalised men in uniforms,
would not be condoned by the group and other well meaning Nigerians.
Speaking further, he opined that the citizens of a country
should be the foundation of the nation’s security by protecting them from internal
and external aggression, hence, the issue of incessant killings of innocent
Nigerians should not be taken with levity hand by authority concerned.
Similarly, it said that the group would call for mass action
in the area of the incident if the Nigeria Police authority failed to bring the
perpetrators of the dastard act to justice within the possible time, insisting
that the group would not rest on its oars until justice is done to the Late
Jessica Adaobi.
“We would not allow Late Jessica to die in vain and Police should ensure justice for her family
within the shortest period of time in order to avoid cacophony of noise with
different locomotive legal agitation against the Nigeria Police Force from the
different quarters. The security of life and property should have gone beyond carrying
gun around by the men of Nigeria police and it should also go beyond parading
AK47 rifles around, the security should hinged modern intelligent gathering
mechanism with international best practices,” CHRSJ noted.
