Edo PDP guber candidate’s wife, Idia Ize-Iyamu convoy attacked

(Nigeria) The convoy of the wife of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate,  in Edo State September 28, 2016 election, Mrs. Idia Ize-Iyamu, was on Tuesday, attacked in Iyamho, Estako West Local Government Area of the state by thugs said to the gubernatorial running mate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate,  Philip Shuaibu.

Dr Idia Ize-Iyamu escaped unhurt.
A statement in Benin by the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, said that the incident happened at Jattu market when the PDP women were campaigning from shop to shop, educating the people on the contents of the PDP manifesto, tagged SIMPLE AGENDA and educating the people on how to vote right during the election.

He added that during the enlightenment campaign, the market women were heard chanting “PDP” and “Change the Change” and this was said to have infuriated the thugs allegedly led by Philip Shuaibu, who became angry and destroyed several cars in Dr. Idia Ize-Iyamu’s convoy.
This led to violence in the market with market women burning any broom in sight, he added.
